Mali is returning to the WAEMU regional government securities market with a CFA 40 billion sovereign financing operation scheduled for 16 September 2026.

According to an official BCEAO/UMOA-Titres auction notice, the operation combines three instruments: a 364-day Treasury bill, a 3-year Treasury bond, and a 5-year Treasury bond.

The 3-year bond carries a stated annual coupon of 6.00%, while the 5-year bond carries 6.20%. The value date is 17 September 2026.

Why This Matters

The auction provides another data point on sovereign funding conditions within the West African Economic and Monetary Union.

Investor demand, accepted yields and the allocation of subscriptions across maturities can provide useful signals about how the regional market is pricing Mali’s short- and medium-term financing needs.

What Seatedwit Is Watching

The next important data will come from the auction results: total subscriptions, the amount ultimately retained, weighted yields and the distribution of investor demand across the 364-day, 3-year and 5-year instruments.

These figures will provide a clearer picture of demand conditions in the WAEMU government securities market.
